Gardening Community?

In these frustrating times, I am drawn to community, caring for each other, and building the resilience needed to fight the theft of our democracy. I think of community in terms of experiences and shared ideas.

Creating Community Experiences

I miss the calming, strengthening times that got me through adolescence, and want to create events to share those experience with others.

Camp craft such as fire-building, creating meals outside, and learning about nature come to mind, as does the motto of my favorite camp, “Sing songs, play games, and have fun.” (Before you ask, yes, I have camp songbooks, and welcome every voice.)

Being in nature and working with rocks and grasses and sticks and clay to give form to the ideas of our hearts can solidify shared purpose. Skill sharing among friends is awesome. 🙂

Sharing Community Resources

I envision offering a variety of outdoor-learning opportunities. The basic idea is that we visit each other’s spaces, share possibilities, and ideas, maybe trade skills and labor and tools and seedlings.
